The creator and host of this site are founding members of Dadoukhoi, which means Torch Bearers. Our methodology is reconstructionist, our devotion is to the deities known in the Hellenic and Hellenistic pantheon, and our emphasis is on personal and communal devotion within a contemporary framework of shared living tradition.
The emphasis of the site is not to plug any particular group, although since I pay the bills I do get to make a few executive decisions, like mentioning the Torch Bearers on the front page. You will not find the site to be a commercial for Dadoukhoi, but you should have no trouble finding plenty of information about practical Hellenic piety for contemporary living.
Sponde! is a type of libation, or liquid offering to the Deathless Ones of Hellenic polytheism. It also means truce, and the truce in place while people came together for festival celebration of the gods was held sacred. You are invited to participate in the spirit of this sacred truce as we come together to contribute to the spirit of community and traditional hospitality I try to represent well on this site.
Contributions to sponde are encouraged from a variety of traditions within Hellenic polytheism, and the diversity of information already shared has done nothing but improve the site.
